9月6日消息，苹果公司在即将推出的iPhone 16中批准了腾讯控股微信应用程序的更新，为苹果要求其做出调整进行的谈判争取到更多时间。知情人士称，苹果已批准腾讯本周提交的针对iOS生态系统的微信更新。因讨论内部谈判要求匿名的知情人士称，最新版本在微信朋友圈和直播中增加了新功能。苹果代表不予置评，腾讯未回复通过电子邮件发送的评论请求。
此前，苹果宣布，将于9月10日凌晨1点发布iPhone 16系列。但在距离发布会只有一周左右的时间里被曝“iPhone 16可能不支持使用微信”，这无疑是一枚深水炸弹，把这对欢喜冤家推上了风口浪尖。有网友发现，iOS版微信已2个月没更新了，于是更加担心起苹果和腾讯关系。（财联社、潇湘晨报）
